1. What is an Advanced Promoted Listing campaign?
Promoted Listing campaign is an advertising service specifically developed for items purchased and sold by buyers and sellers on the eBay platform. You can increase your exposure by 30 percent by pushing your best items (including new items, bestsellers, seasonal essentials) to more online buyers searching and shopping on eBay, increasing the likelihood of items being sold.

Promoted Listing Advanced Campaigns (PLA) is a feature that sellers bid for the first to fourth place in the ad area, sellers are charged for each click. If the seller’s bid is not the highest and cannot compete for ad place, the listings will not be displayed and will not result in clicks and related charges.

Sellers can set a budget limit on the cost for daily clicks on ads, set search keywords for display, and set different set of keywords, and set an ad fee for each click with related keywords, you can also refer to recommended bid prices of certain keywords given by eBay. eBay will not display relevant ads in the ad space when the advertising fee generated on that day has reached budget of that account.

Because the promoted listing campaign feature requires a distinction between eBay sites, users need to log into an eBay account and agree to the terms of service at each site that uses Promoted Listing.

2. Set up a Promoted Listings Advanced campaign(Smart Setup)

Go to Sell>Advertising & Promotion>eBay Priority Campaign Strategy

 

 

Click <Create a new campaign(Smart)> on top right

 

 

Choose datasheets that you want to assign to ad, click <Setup smart ad campaign>

 

 

Set up  campaign name, daily budget, Max Cost Per Click,start time , end time(optional)

Click<submit> to finish.

3. Set up a Promoted Listings Advanced campaign(Quick Setup)

Go to Sell>Advertising & Promotion>eBay Priority Campaign Strategy

 

 

Click <Create a new campaign(Quick setup)> on top right

Choose datasheets that you want to assign to ad, click <Quick setup ad campaign>

Set up campaign name, daily budget, start time , end time(optional)

Click<submit> to finish.

4. How to set up a Promoted Listing Advanced campaign

1) Create a campaign

Go to sell >Advertising&Promotion>eBay Priority Campaign Strategy

click < Create a new campaign >

set up a campaign:

  1. Campaign Name: Campaign Name for eBay, ad promotion name
  2. Campaign site: the site where this ad was posted, you can only add the listings of this site for this campaign
  3. Daily Budget: The maximum amount of advertising fees generated by daily clicks, recommended amount is 100 to 200. EBay will not display your listings in the ad space after the budget is reached, and currency will follow the site
  4. start time: the ad campaign start time, the time zone will follow the site time zone
  5. end time: the end time of the ad campaign, and the time zone follows the site time zone
  6. stores where the campaign applies: only the listings of
    these store that are checked at the time of creation can be added to this activity, the selected account will share the same settings . If the status is not available for selection, click refresh to get the latest status

when the setup is complete, click < submit >

the page will prompt you for the remaining outstanding actions and what you can currently do

  1. unfinished action: you must add a publication before you can set keywords before you can create it completely
  2. what you need to do right now: after you create an activity, you need to add a post, click < confirm  >, and the page will go to the datasheet

if listing and keywords have not been added before the start time, the activity will be voided

2) Add/remove listing

(1) add listings

* eBay promoted listing campaigns are currently open to Qualified Sellers and Top-rated Sellers with recent sales records. Only fixed-price(BIN) listings can be added to promoted listing campaigns, but vehicles( Vehicles), Real Estate, Travel, and all other items (Everything Else) categories are not available.

go to sell > local datasheet > Ready for advertising

* This page cannot perform bulk operations other than the assignment and removal of listing from promoted listing campaigns
* If there are no recommended results in the "Ready for advertising" tab, or the listing you want to add is not in the recommended results, please click the "Local Datasheet Maintenance" tab to view all listings

Check the datasheets you want to assign and click <Promoted Listing> in bulk action buttons.

how to do it:

  1. Select the datasheets associated with the listings and assign them to the ad campaign you want to run. If you select an unpublished data sheet, the assignment result will be incorrect If you select a data sheet that is inconsistent between the publishing site and the active site, the system will prompt an error.
    The same listing can be added to different Advanced Promoted Listing(PLA) campaigns at the same time
  2. click the < Promoted Listing> button
  3. Input the event name, the system will show suggested campaign names based on the input, please click to select .
    If you are redirected from the Create Campaign page to this page, the system will automatically select the campaign you just created.
  4. select an ad group, and if the event is newly created, select the default ad group with the same name as the campaign
  5. In the "Edit Type", select <Add to Promotional Publication> and click <Submit> to confirm the assignment to this Advanced Promoted Listing campaign
    * Please note that if you havent’ set up keywords, the creation of the advanced advertising promotion campaign has not yet been completed
    * If keywords are not set when the campaign starts, the campaign will be invalid

(2) remove listings

enter sell > Advertising & Promotion > eBay Priority Campaign Strategy

Use the search feature to set filters, such as eBay account, site, status, and the name of the ad promotion

how to do it:

  1. search for filter settings
  2. click the < search > button to search for filtering
  3. if the data sheet has been added
    to an ad promotion, an orange square appears if the original listing on the datasheet is delisted, the data sheet is not automatically removed from the previously added ad promotion, and there will still be an orange square

remove the datasheet from your ad promotion

how to do it:

  1. select the data table
  2. click the < promotions > button
  3. enter the name of the ad promotion to retrieve it, click confirm, and select "modify type" as the < remove from promotional campaigns >
  4. click the < submit > button to confirm

3) edit ad groups (a set of keywords)

(1) enter the editing activity

go straight in

if you assign data sheets to an ad promotion that has not yet set keywords, you’ll be prompted to say, "the assigned activity doesn’t have keywords yet, edit keywords now."

clicking the prompt button will take you back to the promotional campaign settings page

or go to the page manually

click on the sell > Advertising & Promotion > eBay Priority Campaign Strategy   on the menu

click the white view button to the right of
the event name to go to the event details page and set the keywords . . . click the pencil button to modify the start and end times before the event is created, but you can’t set keywords

(2) set up ad groups (i.e. "a set of keywords")

users can set up ad groups in pop-up windows

how to do it:

  1. eBay suggests keywords based on the listings that have been added, you can choose to add from eBay suggestions
    a green √  uns added   that shows a button, and the user can   keywords by clicking on the button Sometimes eBay doesn’t recommend keywords, and users can click on the green <  Add Row of > button to add manually
  2. keywords: keyword content, which users can modify manually
  3. bid: advertising fees per click must not be less than 0.2, otherwise the keyword is invalid. currency will follow the active site.
  4. Match Mode:</>

    Keyword Match Type Example Keyword Appears For Example Search Best For
    Exact Match  with variants Red shoes exact  keywords Your ads will still be considered if a buyer searches  for “red shoes” or “Red Shoes” but not for queries  like “red flat shoes” or “red boots.” Exact match is best for consideration and conversion goals by helping you  target high-intent buyers.
    Phrase Match  with variants Red shoes keyword  phrase with  words before  and/or after Your ad would be considered for the search query  “size 6 RED SHOES”, but not “red size 6 shoes.” Phrase match is best for more awareness and consideration goals by helping  you reach a larger audience.
    Broad  Match Red shoes keywords  anywhere in  search query Your ads will be considered if a buyer searches for  "Red shoes" and "Red running shoes" Broad match ensures your ad is viewed by the widest shopper base by  appearing whenever a user’s search query includes all words in your key  phrase in any order.
  5. Get bid suggestions: Click to get eBay’s bid suggestions for that keyword, and if eBay doesn’t have suggestions, it won’t work
  6. delete: delete this keyword
  7. add a line: add a new keyword manually
  8. Add bid suggestions in bulk: Check the keywords that need to be added in bulk, and click "Add bid suggestions in bulk" to apply the PC bid recommended by eBay for multiple keywords at the same time
  9. bulk delete keywords: check the keywords that need to be deleted in bulk, click "delete keywords in bulk" to delete keywords in bulk within the system interface

after you save your ad group, the premium promotion is not created until you’ve created it

4) append ad groups

click on "new ad groups" in the feature button below the page

set a name for an ad group

go to the tab for the newly created ad group and click < add more >

once this ad group has been assigned to publish, click < edit your keyword > to set your keywords

 

5) edit negative keywords

negative keywords are keywords that the seller wants to avoid, and if the buyer searches for text that contains negative keywords, the seller’s ads do not appear.

after you select the ad group you want, click < edit the negative keyword > add the negative keyword for that ad group

6) edit the activity

go to the event details page to see the same-day budget usage for each store

if the budget is exhausted, the current budget amount may not be sufficient, you can > modify the budget by clicking < edit activity

keywords and ad group settings rules:

  • you can have up to 1,000 keywords per ad group
  • up to 1,000 posts per ad group
  • you can have up to 500 ad groups per ad campaign
  • each post can exist in multiple ad groups and multiple ad campaigns at the same time
  • when you add an ad group to an event, the ads in the original ad group are not automatically added to the new ad group
5. How do I export/import posts or keywords to an event using excel forms?

1) export added posts or keywords

click on the sales > Advertising & Promotion > eBay Priority Campaign Strategy on the menu go to the premium promotions campaign management page and click the white view details button to the right of the event name to go to the event details page

find the ad group you want to export in the ad group tab

click < export publishing > to download the publishing number added to this ad group

click < export keywords> download the keywords added to this ad group and their bid and match patterns

2) import excel to add/remove posts or keywords

the format of the excel table mentioned in the previous section for exporting published or keywords can be used directly for uploading.

if you need a new publication, you can add a new publication number to the exported publishing form, and if you want to remove the publication, you can fill in "remove" in the right column of the publication number.

if you want to add keywords, or modify your keyword bid, you can append or modify them in the exported keyword table, or if you want to remove keywords, you can fill in "remove" in the right field of the keyword.

note: if you change the spelling of a keyword, it will be considered an additional new keyword and the original keyword will not change

once the form is saved, go back to the activity details page and click the < file upload > button at the bottom of the page

select upload publish or upload keywords in the tab of the pop-up window, click the upload button, select a file from your computer, or drag the file directly to the upload button, and the system will start uploading the table file.

6. how to view/download an advanced promoted listing campaign performance report?

I) overview of all campaigns

click on the sell > Advertising & Promotion > eBay Priority Campaign Strategy on the menu go to the premium promotions campaign management page to see the current cumulative performance figures for all events

if the number is 0, or the user wants to see the latest number, click  to update, you can click no more than once in a short period of time.


II) chart view for specific campaigns

click the white view details button to the right of the event name to go to the event details page

How to use:
  1. filters: users can specify stores, keywords, and publish to query
  2. chart area: users can scroll up and down using the mouse wheel to zoom the chart
  3. time specified: the user can manually drag the pointer to determine the start and end time, or drag the time bar to move the time interval

 

III) different levels of report export

Go to menu’s sell > Advertising & Promotion > eBay Priority Campaign Strategy to the advanced promotions campaign management page.

Click the white view button to the right of the event name to go to the event details page

To download detailed performance reports, the system provides 3 ways to download, by activity, by account, by keyword.

by downloading an ad campaign, users can go back to the upper-level advanced promotional campaign management page and click on the download button to download it

Or go to the details page, download by eBay account and download by keyword

IV. View/Download search query

For "Phrase" type keywords, eBay uses "extended search keywords" to match seller’s keyword setting, sellers can view the search query reports, especially the ad cost and return rates, and decide whether you want to exclude some extended search words by adding a specific word to negative search keyword.

To view the search query for a specific ad group, you can click the "View Search Query" button under certain ad group.

7. Campaign scheduler(Repeatedly pause/resume campaign or ad group)

This function can pause or resume ad at certain time slots daily or on certain day of a week, it can be applied to the whole campaign or on certain ad groups.

1) Set up campaign scheduler

Go to Sell > Advertising & Promotion > eBay Priority Campaign Strategy

Click <Campaign Scheduler>

Set up actions towards campaign or ad groups, and how you want the action to be repeated.

* The example in picture applies to when you want to pause ad temporarily while the ad is running actively in general.

 

* "Pause" is available for active status, the campaign or ad groups will be paused during the designated period, but if the campaign or ad groups are already paused at that time, the setting will not be effective. This applies to when you want to pause ad temporarily while the ad is running actively in general.
* "Resume" is available for paused status, the campaign or ad groups will be resumed active during the designated period, but if the campaign or ad groups are active, the setting will not be effective. This applies to when you want to activate ad temporarily while the ad is paused in general.

 

2) Campaign scheduler profile

If you want to reuse settings of a campaign schedule, you can click "Save As New" to save as a new profile after completing settings.

8. How to end/delete an advanced promotional posting?

click on the menu’s sell >Advertising & Promotion > eBay Priority Campaign Strategy to go to the advanced promoted listing  campaign management page.

1) delete directly

click the trash can button on the right side of the activity to delete the activity.

only empty or closed activities can be deleted directly

2) end the activity before deleting it

click the white view button on the right side of the activity

click the < end > button below the event details page

when it’s done, the red button changes to < delete > button and click to delete the activity

:: after the manual closure of the activity, the activity performance report is cleared and the naturally closed activity is not

9. frequently asked questions about premium promotions

1. Ebay API Error: (35067) : The seller must accept the Promoted Listings terms and conditions. Please accept Promoted Listings terms and conditions by visiting this link xxxxxxxxx

Reason: Sellers are required to agree to use promotional postings in their eBay account, click on the link to eBay and click "Agree" to agree to the Terms of Service for each new use of the site.
